When housekeeping at the San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily accidentally swept up a young guest’s stuffed animal, Rosie, with the bedding, staff didn’t just mail it back. They gave Rosie the run of the hotel — photos by the pool, at the bar, tucked into bed — and wrote a letter home in Rosie’s own voice describing her “adventure” while she waited to be reunited with her owner, Julia.
“When we got separated at the beautiful San Domenico Palace, I was a little worried at first,” the letter read, “but the kind people at the hotel took very good care of me.” The hotel covered shipping to send Rosie home, and after Julia’s sister shared the story online, it was viewed by millions.
