We Had AI Write Three Breakup Texts. Here’s Which One Actually Works.

Let’s be real: breaking up is the absolute worst, and crafting that perfect, painful message feels like trying to defuse a bomb with a butter knife.

In our never-ending quest to make life a little easier (or at least more entertaining), we decided to outsource the agony to our new favorite digital overlord: AI. We tasked it with writing three distinct breakup texts, each with a different vibe, to see if a robot could actually nail the delicate art of ending things. The results were… illuminating. And occasionally hilarious.

The Dignified Departure

First up, we asked AI for a text that was polite, clear, and aimed for minimal drama. The kind of breakup text you might send if you still want to be able to share a mutual friend group without awkward silences.

AI Writes Breakup Message:
“Hi [Name], I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I’ve come to the difficult conclusion that we need to go our separate ways. This wasn’t an easy decision, and I truly value the time we spent together. I wish you all the best for the future.”

Our Reaction: Honestly? Not bad. It’s concise, respectful, and avoids blame. It gives the recipient a clear message without leaving too much room for ambiguity. The “difficult conclusion” and “not an easy decision” add a touch of human-like empathy, even if it’s generated by an algorithm. It’s a solid template for how to break up with someone text when you want to keep things civil.

Verdict: Use it! This one actually works, especially for shorter relationships, situations where there’s no major conflict, or if you genuinely want to part as friends (eventually). It’s one of the better breakup text examples for a clean break.

Scorched Earth

Next, we went for chaos. We asked AI to write a breakup text that was blunt, perhaps a little angry, and left no room for doubt. We wanted a digital mic drop.

AI Writes Breakup Message:
“I’m done. This isn’t working, and frankly, it hasn’t been for a while. I deserve better, and so do you, but not with me. Don’t contact me again.”

Our Reaction: Whoa, AI! Tell us how you really feel! This text is certainly direct, but it veers sharply into “burn the bridge and salt the earth” territory. While it achieves its goal of being unambiguous, it lacks any warmth or consideration for the other person’s feelings. The “I deserve better” line, while potentially true, comes off as accusatory and could easily escalate the situation into a full-blown argument. This is definitely one of the more aggressive breakup text examples.

Verdict: Avoid, unless absolutely necessary
